The Collierville Fire Department is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service to our customers, the citizen of Collierville, each time we respond to an emergency.

We are a vibrant and growing public safety organization, always looking for ways to improve our quality of service to the citizens and trying to project their future needs, and making the changes necessary to respond to them. We are committed to providing the highest level of emergency and non-emergency service possible at a level higher than the citizens expect while being fiscally responsible of every taxpayer dollar. Buddy Billings has spent the majority of his life in the Collierville community. After graduating from Collierville High School in 1977, he pursued his career in the fire service by attending classes from the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy. He began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter with the Collierville Fire Department at the age of 16. After a short stint as a Collierville Police-Fire Dispatcher beginning in July 1978, he transferred to the fire department as a Fire Private in March of 1979. His dedication to fire service elevated him to Firefighter/Driver, then to Fire Lieutenant in 1983, Fire Marshal in 1995 and Chief of Fire Prevention in 2005. Chief Billings completed the Emergency Medical Technician Program while enrolled at Shelby State Community College, obtaining a license as an Advanced-EMT with the Tennessee Department of Health in 1992. He holds numerous fire service certifications and in January of 1994 became one of the first Collierville firefighters to achieve Fire Officer Certification from the State of Tennessee Commission on Firefighting Standards and Education. He is a licensed Fire Inspector with the State of Tennessee Fire Marshal’s Office and has extensive experience in all major phases of professional firefighting, having served in the Divisions of Emergency Operations, Training and Continuing Education, and Fire Prevention and Life Safety. Past President of the Tennessee Fire Safety Inspectors Association and Tennessee Public Fire and Life Safety Educators Association, Chief Billings currently serves on the Town of Collierville’s Safety Committee. He is an active member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA); National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA); Tennessee Fire Safety Inspectors Association (TFSIA), Tennessee Public Fire/Life Safety Education Association (TPFLSEA), and the International Code Council (ICC). Chief Billings and his wife Dr. Linda Billings have been married for thirty-nine years and have two adult children; Robert Billings (Chrissy), Brandy Billings (Jeff) and one grandson Bo (6). They are active members of Bethany Christian Church where he serves as both Deacon and Secretary to the Board. They currently reside in Williston, Tennessee. As part of his community involvement, Chief Billings was actively involved with Shelby Youth Sports (SYS) and Collierville Youth Athletics Association (CYAA) where he coached football for many years and is the Past President of the Collierville High School Football Boosters.
